The Lee Haugen Long Foundation
A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established in 2015 by founder and President Lisa Stephens in honor and memory of Lee Haugen Long. The Long family have been neighbors to Lisa and Michael Stephens for many years, and in 2014, Lee was diagnosed with a grade IV glioblastoma multiforme (a type of brain tumor). Shortly after her diagnosis, she had surgery to remove the tumor and began the rigorous schedule of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
After beginning her treatments, Lee and her husband Don discussed options for how to make things easier in their day to day life, as these treatments were taking a toll on her ability to perform the daily tasks of maintaining a home. Before they could make the call for cleaning services, a local company named “It’s Maid Up” called and informed them that an anonymous benefactor had made arrangements to provide services for them for a full year. Hearing this news was astounding and considered a huge blessing in their lives.
Matthew 22:39 “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself” (KJV)
The generosity and kindness of this anonymous benefactor, along with the impact on this family, is the concept that preceded the need for The Lee Haugen Long Foundation. We are now partnered with “It’s Maid Up” to provide cleaning services in Greenwood (County), South Carolina to women with cancer that are currently receiving chemotherapy or radiation treatments. In doing this, others just like Lee and her family, can experience the same joy and peace in knowing that love and compassion for your neighbor still exist through the blessing of others.
We are only able to provide these services, at no cost to the families, because of your generous tax deductible donations to this foundation.
